The Heron Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) is a Medium-Altitude Long-Endurance (MALE) system developed and manufactured by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) [1]. It is widely utilized by the Indian Armed Forces for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions. India has a long history of operating the Heron-1 and has recently inducted the more advanced Heron Mk II variant to enhance surveillance capabilities, particularly along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). These drones are capable of reaching altitudes of 35,000 feet and provide critical real-time data for border monitoring. While some Heron drones have been acquired through direct purchase, recent inductions have also involved leasing agreements with Israel to meet urgent operational requirements. The Heron TP (Eitan) is another advanced variant within this family that India has procured to bolster its strategic aerial surveillance [2].
