Madhya Pradesh shares its border with how many States ?

Madhya Pradesh, often called the 'Heart of India' due to its central location, shares its borders with five states [t1]. These neighboring states are Uttar Pradesh to the north, Chhattisgarh to the east, Maharashtra to the south, and Gujarat and Rajasthan to the west [t5][t7]. Historically, before the creation of Chhattisgarh in 2000, undivided Madhya Pradesh was surrounded by seven states, including Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, and Odisha [t4]. Following the Madhya Pradesh Reorganization Act of 2000, Chhattisgarh was carved out of its eastern territories [c2][c4]. Currently, the state shares its longest border with Uttar Pradesh and its shortest border with Gujarat [t4]. The state is entirely landlocked, with no international boundaries or coastline [t1].
