While Trombay is the site for BARC [c1][t5], and Sriharikota serves as the spaceport for ISRO [t6], Kalpakkam is a major nuclear hub hosting both IGCAR and a nuclear power station [c2][t7]. Originally known as the Reactor Research Centre (RRC), it was renamed in 1985 in honor of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi [t3].
