The impeachment of the President of India is a quasi-judicial procedure governed by Article 61 of the Constitution [3]. According to the constitutional provisions, the process can be initiated by either House of the Parliament—the Lok Sabha or the Rajya Sabha [1]. The charge of 'violation of the Constitution' must be preferred by one House in the form of a resolution, which requires a 14-day notice signed by at least one-fourth of the total membership of that House. Once the initiating House passes the resolution by a majority of two-thirds of its total membership, the other House investigates the charges. During this investigation, the President has the right to appear and be represented. If the second House also passes the resolution by a two-thirds majority, the President stands removed from office [3].
