The Congress Socialist Party (CSP) was founded in 1934 as a socialist caucus within the Indian National Congress. The party was established during a meeting in Patna on May 17, 1934, under the chairmanship of Acharya Narendra Dev [3]. While Jayaprakash Narayan served as the general secretary, Acharya Narendra Dev was the founding president [3]. Other prominent founding members included Achyut Patwardhan and Asoka Mehta [1]. Although Jawaharlal Nehru was deeply influenced by socialist ideology and worked closely with these leaders, he and Subhas Chandra Bose never formally joined the CSP [2]. Motilal Nehru was not associated with the party's formation as he passed away in 1931. The CSP aimed to radicalize the nationalist movement by organizing workers and peasants to provide a social base for the anti-imperialist struggle.
