The electoral college that elects the Vice- President of India consists of

According to Article 66 of the Constitution of India, the Vice-President is elected by an electoral college consisting of the members of both Houses of Parliament [t1][t7]. Unlike the Presidential election, which only includes elected members, the Vice-Presidential electoral college includes both elected and nominated members of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha [c4][t4]. Specifically, for the 2025 election, this includes 543 elected members of the Lok Sabha, 233 elected members of the Rajya Sabha, and 12 nominated members of the Rajya Sabha [t1][t4]. State Legislative Assemblies have no role in the election of the Vice-President, distinguishing it from the Presidential electoral college [t4][t8]. The election is conducted through a system of proportional representation by means of a single transferable vote with a secret ballot [t1][t5].
