According to Article 219 of the Constitution of India, every person appointed to be a judge of a High Court must, before entering office, make and subscribe to an oath or affirmation [4]. This oath is administered by the Governor of the State or some person appointed by him or her for that purpose [2]. During the ceremony, the judge swears to bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of India, to uphold the sovereignty and integrity of the country, and to perform their duties without fear, favour, affection, or ill-will [2]. While the President of India is the appointing authority for High Court judges, the constitutional responsibility for administering the oath of office rests specifically with the Governor of the concerned state [4]. This distinction ensures the local state executive witnesses the induction of the state's highest judicial officers.
