What is Bisphenol A (BPA)?

Bisphenol A (BPA) is a synthetic industrial chemical used as a key building block in the production of polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins; these materials are widely employed in consumer products, especially food-contact applications such as reusable bottles, can liners, jar lids and storage containers, which is a primary route of human exposure [2]. Scientific reviews classify BPA as an environmental contaminant with endocrine-disrupting properties and document its prevalence in food packaging and other polymer-based materials [2]. Therefore, BPA is not a medical cancer test, a doping test, or an alloy steel — it is a chemical used for developing food-packaging materials (option 3).
