When did the United Nations Organization come into existence ?

The United Nations Organization (UNO) officially came into existence on October 24, 1945 [2]. While the UN Charter was signed earlier on June 26, 1945, by representatives of 50 nations at the San Francisco Conference, it did not enter into force until October 24 of that year [1][t1]. This occurred after the Charter had been ratified by the five permanent members of the Security Council—China, France, the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom, and the United States—and a majority of the other 46 signatories [t4][t5]. Consequently, October 24 is celebrated annually as United Nations Day to mark this founding anniversary [c1][t7]. The organization was established as a successor to the League of Nations with the primary goal of maintaining international peace and security following the devastation of World War II [c3][t7].
