Studies and reviews also state that funneling or converging channels increase tidal wave height and tidal range as the tide propagates into shallower, narrowing basins [3]. Thus gulfs with narrow fronts and wider rears would not generally produce the large tidal amplification described in coastal geography, making statement (1) incorrect.
