Which Article of the Constitution of India says, ‘No child below the age of fourteen years shall be employed to work in any factory or mine or engaged in any other hazardous employment’?

Article 24 of the Constitution expressly provides that “No child below the age of fourteen years shall be employed in any factory or mine or engaged in any other hazardous employment,” thereby prohibiting employment of young children in dangerous occupations and forming part of the fundamental rights aimed at preventing exploitation of children [2]. This constitutional prohibition has served as the basis for legislative measures such as the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 1986 and its later amendments to strengthen the ban and regulate adolescent employment. The provision is a core safeguard under the Right against Exploitation and has been reinforced by government policy and statutes to eliminate hazardous child labour.[2]
