Mission Indradhanush aims at

Mission Indradhanush was launched by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on December 25, 2014, as a flagship initiative to strengthen the Universal Immunization Programme [2]. Its primary objective is to achieve full immunisation coverage of at least 90% for children up to two years of age and pregnant women [2]. The mission specifically targets unvaccinated and partially vaccinated individuals in high-risk and hard-to-reach areas [5]. While the programme includes vaccines against diseases like pneumonia (via Hib and PCV) and rotavirus, its overarching aim is the comprehensive 'full immunisation' of the target population rather than focusing on a single disease [2]. By 2017, the initiative had already vaccinated over 2.53 crore children and 68 lakh pregnant women across multiple phases [2]. Subsequent iterations, such as Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI), further accelerated these coverage goals [5].
