The All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) was established in April 1936 at the Lucknow session of the Indian National Congress, with Swami Sahajanand Saraswati as its first President and N.G. Ranga as the General Secretary. The organization aimed to mobilize peasants against the zamindari system and occupancy rights violations. By the early 1940s, despite internal rifts between the Communist and non-Communist factions over the 'Quit India' movement, Sahajanand Saraswati remained a central figure in the Sabha. Specifically, for the period of 1944-45, Swami Sahajanand Saraswati served as the President of the All India Kisan Sabha, including during the session held at Vijayawada in 1944. Other leaders like Acharya Narendra Deva were primarily associated with the Congress Socialist Party, and Vinoba Bhave was known for the later Sarvodaya and Bhoodan movements.
