Explanation
The Indian National Army (INA) in its decisive 1943 incarnation is associated with Subhas Chandra Bose’s arrival and reorganisation in Singapore. Bose reached Singapore on July 2, 1943 and soon took over leadership of the Indian Independence League and the INA from Rashbehari Bose, formally assuming control in July 1943 and reorganising the force there [1]. Later in 1943 he established the Provisional Government of Free India in Singapore (October 21, 1943), which declared the INA as its military arm, tying the 1943 INA firmly to Singapore as its place of reconstitution and political centre under Bose [2].
